Twente vs PSV

A high-scoring affair is expected between these two attack-minded sides

FC Twente welcome PSV to De Grolsch Veste on Sunday afternoon in a tricky first home tie of the season. The Enschede outfit lost their opening fixture in Zwolle a week ago, despite taking 16 shots and creating an xG of 1.17. Joseph Oosting’s side can be difficult to trust on the road, yet they always deliver goals and entertainment at home, and we’re expecting them to be involved in a lively affair here.
They don’t have a fantastic recent record against the Eindhoven outfit, losing 1-3 in April at this venue, and they have conceded 3+ goals in three of the last four meetings. There has been plenty of churn with the squad this summer, and they may take a few weeks to find their feet. Luckily for Oosting, he has no injury concerns ahead of this fixture.
Last season’s champions PSV began their title defence in style with an emphatic 6-1 victory over Sparta Rotterdam. Peter Bosz’s men chalked up an xG of 1.73 and had 12 shots on target, creating numerous opportunities throughout.
The visitors will be hoping to extend their winning streak against this opposition, and although this is generally viewed as a tough place to go, it may be a good time to face FC Twente before they find their rhythm. Joey Veerman was fantastic last weekend, and fans will be delighted to see Ivan Perisic and Ruben Van Bommel amongst the goals too.
This looks set to be a cracking contest, and goals are expected for both sides.
