West Ham vs Chelsea

Back Chelsea to edge past their London rivals

Graham Potter is already under pressure at the London Stadium with the West Ham fans starting to become a little impatient. They are also aiming some of their ire towards the board, who they believe have under-invested this summer, and it's left them fighting for their lives at the bottom of the Premier League.
It is still early days, however, Potter's overall record in East London is poor with just five wins from 19, and since picking up a victory in his opening home game against Fulham at the start of January, he's subsequently overseen just one victory at this venue and that came against relegated Leicester.
West Ham's squad looks short of quality, particularly in forward areas and except for Jarrod Bowen, they appear to have few players who can make things happen.
Nevertheless, they look relatively strong at wing-back with Aaron Wan Bissaka and summer signing El Hadji Malick Diouf providing plenty of width and quality.
Chelsea would have been disappointed with their 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace on the opening weekend. Enzo Maresca's side were thwarted by the Eagles and could easily have lost the game with Eberechi Eze's free-kick chalked off by VAR.
Their lacklustre performance could have been blamed on the fatigue from the Club World Cup in July; however, they should have enough quality to rotate if necessary. Nicholas Jackson is eligible for this contest; however, Maresca has already confirmed that the striker will not feature.
The Blues have an excellent record against the Hammers and will be expected to win; however, they haven't shown enough to suggest that they will ease to victory on Friday evening. A narrow success is the most likely outcome.
