PSG vs Bayern Munich

Back an entertaining game in the searing heat

One of the standout fixtures of the Club World Cup quarter-finals is the meeting between PSG and Bayern Munich. A place in the final four is the reward, with either Real Madrid or Borussia Dortmund awaiting the winner of the contest.
Although this fixture is scheduled for 5pm for the European audience, the game will take place at 12pm local time at the Mercedes-Benz Arena, where temperatures are expected to climb to 30 degrees.
PSG are coming off the back of a historic treble-winning season, and except for their remarkable 1-0 defeat to Botafogo, they have been excellent in this competition and worthy favourites for the title.
Fans of the French side will be delighted with their team’s strength in depth, with Ousmane Dembele making his return from the bench. The straightforward nature of their victory over Inter Miami allowed Luis Enrique to make changes in the second half, helping to preserve the energy of his squad.
PSG have tended to struggle in their recent tussles with Bayern and failed to score when they met them in November. They have lost three of their last six meetings with German sides, and they will be hoping to end that underwhelming record on Saturday.
Bayern were involved in one of the games of the tournament as they beat Flamengo 4-2. Vincent Kompany’s side is likely to continue deploying their high-press, and although they are likely to struggle to maintain their intensity of 90 minutes, they should have enough firepower to trouble the Parisiens and get on the scoresheet.
This might not be a high-scoring content, but BTTS should land with the French outfit edging through to the semi-final stage.
