Real Madrid vs Mallorca

Back Los Blancos to edge past the stubborn visitors

Real Madrid suffered their fourth El Classico loss of the campaign at the weekend, despite having more time to prepare for the clash with Barcelona. Los Blancos saw their lead wiped out by conceding four goals in 26 minutes and they must pick themselves up quickly ahead of this midweek match with Mallorca.
With just three matches left this season, Real Madrid now have a seven-point gap to bridge and they cannot afford to drop any more points. There is a feeling that they will respond to that setback and take it out of their next opponents, however, this will be far from straightforward for the hosts.
They do have a good record against the Islanders and have won each of the last six home meetings with this opposition, although Mallorca aren’t easy to breach and were narrowly edged out by Barcelona in a recent away trip. They’ve failed to score in their last two trips to the Bernabeu, losing by an aggregate scoreline of 4-0 and we could see another 1-0 or 2-0 victory for the hosts.
True, Mallorca have nothing to play for, but they are still fighting and came from a goal behind to beat Valladolid at the weekend. Since losing 2-0 to Atleti, they’ve conceded just six times in their last six away games.
Jude Bellingham was one of the players blamed for Real Madrid’s collapse at the weekend and it will be interesting to see whether he starts this contest or whether he is allowed to recover.
Real Madrid should win this tie, but they won’t find it a straightforward assignment.
